Abstract
646,344. Meshing-screw pumps or motors. AKTIEBOLAGET IMO-INDUSTRI. Oct. 25,, 1948, No. 27722. Convention date, May 10. [Class 110(ii)] The rotor screws are surrounded by a sleeve, divided into two or more parts 6, 5, adjustable in relation to each other; or one sleeve 6 co-operating with a fixed part of the casing 1 instead of the part 5. In Fig. 1 the part 5 is secured to the casing and the part 6 rests on the screws when they are stationary. When the machine is used as a pump with inlet and delivery ports 11, 14, the delivery pressure forces the parts 6, 5 together. Balancing pistons 15, 16, 22 are supported in self-adjusting sleeves 18, 27, 23. A chamber 20 is connected by an axial passage 19 with the suction chamber 12. Passages 21, in the side screws, allow delivery pressure fluid to pass to the insides of the sleeves 16, 23 by way of a manifold 26. A spring 30 presses the sleeves 18, 6 apart. Packing rings may be placed in the clearance between the parts 1, 6 and inside the abutting ends 28.
