Abstract

471,136. Cutting paper &c. BENTLEY, C., and THRISSELL ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. March 24, 1936, Nos. 8750 and 11502. [Class 31 (i)] [Also in Group XVII] Packing - blocks are made from material comprising upper and lower sheets 12, 13 of paper &c. and one or more intermediate layers of corrugated paper &c., the material -being partly cut through or perforated where it is to be bent to form a packing block. The slits may extend from one side only or from both sides as shown in Fig. 2. A machine for slitting the blanks from alternate sides has disc cutters 22 alternately arranged on two shafts 28, and supports 23 opposite each cutter carried by two cross rails 24. The planks are fed singly by a pusher 21 and the feed rolls 32 through the machine. Co-operating cutters on the two shafts trim the ends of the blanks. The cutters 22 may be circular or toothed.
