[Class 18.] A box for storing and dispensing cigarettes, &c. is divided into two compartments one of which is pivoted so that, after the contents of the first compartment is exhausted, the pivoted compartment can be moved over to register with a recess in a closure member for delivering its contents. A casing comprises two compartments 7, 9 one of which is constituted by a rectangular tubular member 7 pivoted at 10, and when this movable compartment is in the position shown, both compartments can be filled with cigarettes, &c. To deliver the cigarettes a roller 4 or other segmental member is turned up until a recess 5 therein registers with the compartment 9 when a cigarette will drop into the recess. If the roller is now turned outwards, the cigarette in the recess will fall into a tray 6 secured adjacent the recess, and the remaining cigarettes will be held back by the curved surface of the roller. A ledge 8 normally closes the bottom of the pivoted compartment, but after all the cigarettes in the compartment 9 have been delivered, the pivoted compartment is moved over by a lever 11 which engages a catch in the side of the box so that it can register with the recess 5 for the delivery of its contents. The device can be used on the dashboard of a motor car.
