Abstract

A solar powered night reader unit includes a solar panel on the front cover which charges batteries (16, figure 6) in a battery compartment (15, figure 6). The rechargeable batteries power the bulb 6 (13, figure 5) held in reflector/deflector 5 (12, figure 5) which s controlled by an on/off time switch 7 (14, figure 5). A book is held in position by sleeves 4, (10, figure 3) and the solar panel night reader is locked by lock and clasp (11,11a, figure 4).

SOLAR POWERED NIGHT READER
THIS INVENTION RELATES TO A DEVICE FOR READING IN THE DARK
iT IS SOLAR POWERED AND PORTABLE.
A SOLAR PANEL IS EMBEDDED IN THE FRONT COVER, POWERING RECHAGEABLE BATTERIES. THESE POWER A BULB HEALD WITHIN THE METALLIC REFELCTOR/DEFLECTOR PREDOMINANTLY USED BY BED TIME READERS, BUT ALSO IN NUMERJOUS OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES WHERE THERE IS POOR LIGHT.
THE BOOK IS HELD IN PLACE BY POCKETS IN THE SLEEVES, MADE FROM RECYCLED CARDBOARD WITH A CLEAR PLASTIC COATING. THE SPINE IS PLEATED FOR FLEXIBILTY. IT IS SECURED BY A CLASP AND A KEEP.
WITH A 30 MINUTE CUT OUT IT WILL MAKE READING COMPATIBLE
WITH NON-READERS AND ENSURE LIGHTS ARE NOT LEFT ON
NEEDLESSLY IF THE READER FALLS ASLEEP.
ECOLOGICALLY FRIENDLY IT COULD SAVE BILLIONS OF HOURS OF
FOSSIL GENERATED ENERGY.

Claims (6)

  1. I) A SOLAR POWERED NIGHT READER MEANS A PERSON MAY READ A BOOK WiThOUT USING CONVENTIONAL LIGHTING.
  2. 2) THE BATFERIES ARE RECHARGEABLE, FUELLED BY SOLAR LIGHT, PROVIDING THEY ARE PLACED IN A SUITABLE PLACE. IE; A WINDOW SILL.
  3. 3) THE CUT OUT MECHANISM MEANS THAT NO ELECTRICITY IS
    WASTED SHOULD THE USER FALL ASLEEP
  4. 4) THE NIGHT READER IS PORTABLE AND CAN BE USED IN A HOST
    OF DIFFERENT SITUATIONS
  5. 5) IF WIDELY USED THIS COULD POTENTIALLY SAVE SOCIETY HUGE AMOUNTS OF CONVENTIONALLY CREATED ELECTRICITY,
    THEREBY SAVING SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF CARBON
    EMISSIONS.
  6. 6) THE SOLAR POWERED NIGHT READER WILL BE MADE TO
    DIMENSIONS SUFFICIENT TO HOLD MOST HARD BACK AND SOFT
    BACK BOOKS. THE PLEATED SPINE WILL ACCOMMODATE NEARLY ALL VARIETIES OF THICKNESS OF BOOKS.
