Abstract
An incandescent igniter (7) adjacent outlets (6) of a gas burner (1) is energised by an ignition switch (13) actuated by axial movement of a nut on a regulating shaft (14) of a gas regulator (4) and is thus switched on by an opening movement of the gas regulator (4) and switched off by a closing movement of the gas regulator (4). Alternatively the switch (13) is operated by an eccentric formation on the regulator shaft. <IMAGE>
Description
2 2 5 2.5 13 A SIMMERING AND COOKING EQUIPMENT WITH AT LEAST ONE GAS
BURNER The invention relates to a simmering and cooking equipment with at least one gas burner, in which the gas burner possesses a fuel gas supply appliance with a gas regulator, in which the igniter of an ignition appliance is located in the neighbourhood of the fuel gas outlets and which possesses an ignition switch. The simmering and cooking equipment can also be a baking equipment or the like. The ignition appliance can possess a high voltage igniter with timed spark ignition, or an incandescent igniter. The gas burner can operate with an open flame or be covered by a ceramic glass plate.
It is obvious that the gas burner is supplied with a combustible gas/air mixture.
In the simmering and cooking equipments known in practice, of which the invention is a development, the gas regulator on one hand and the ignition switch on the other are self-contained control units that have to be operated by hand independently of one another. Of course it is known to block the gas regulator mechanically by the ignition switch so that an opening movement of the gas regulator is only possible if the ignition switch has previously been switched on, but one cannot avoid the possibility of the ignition appliance being switched on and operating for a long time without the simmering and cooking equipment being turned on. If the ignition appliance is supplied with its electrical energy from a battery it is impossible to prevent the battery from discharging, so that at the decisive moment there is no longer sufficient electrical energy for ignition. This impairs the reliability of operation.
It is the basic problem of the invention so to improve a simmering equipment of the above described construction that it is on one hand ensured that the gas regulator cannot be operated without the ignition appliance being switched on, but on the other hand it is ensured that the ignition appliance cannot be switched on without the gas regulator being turned on.
According to the present invention there is provided a simmering and cooking equipment with at least one gas burner, in which the gas burner has a fuel gas supply appliance with a gas regulator, in which the igniter of an ignition appliance that possesses an ignition switch is located near to the fuel gas outlets, the ignition switch being operable by means of the gas regulator, thus it can be switched on by an opening movement of the gas regulator and can be switched off by a closing movement of the gas regulator, the gas regulator having a regulating shaft with an actuating nut that is moveable in an axial direction of the regulating shaft when the latter is displaced and the ignition switch being switchable on and off by means of the actuating nut.
According to a preferred form of construction of the invention, the ignition switch is constructed as a component of the gas regulator and is united thereto. The gas regulator can possess a regulating shaft--.with an eccentric formation, such that the ignition switch can be operated by that formation. There is however also the possibility of so designing the equipment that the gas regulator possesses a regulating shaft with an actuating nut that can be moved in an axial direction of the regulating shaft as the latter is adjusted, so that the ignition switch can be switched on and off by means of the actuating nut. The gas regulator and the ignition -switch can be accommodated in a common assembly housing.
The advantages obtained are to be seen in that it is on one hand ensured that the gas regulator cannot be operated without the ignition appliance being switched on, and on the other hand the ignition appliance cannot be switched on without the gas regulator being opened. The ignition switch can be operated by means of the gas regulator, and this in such a way that the mechanical bridging-over of the thermoelectric ignition safety- catch and switching on of the ignition represent a termination of movement and are of limited duration.
In the following the invention is more fully explained with the help of a drawing representing merely one example of performance, in which:- Figure 1 is a portion of a first embodiment of simmering. and cooking equipment with a gas burner and an ignition appliance; and Figure 2 corresponds to Figure 1 but shows a second embodiment.
The portion of the simmering and cooking equipment represented in the drawing possesses at least one gas burner 1 with an open flame, as is shown. The gas burner possesses 4 - distributor head 2 with a fuel gas supply appliance 3 having gas regulator 4, a cover plate 5 and fuel gas outlets 6 in a region below the cover plate 5. The igniter of an ignition appliance is located near to the fuel gas outlets 6. Both in the form of construction according to Figure 1 and in that according to Figure 2 the ignitor is constructed as an incandescent igniter 7 and is located so that it is protected by cover plate 5. In both cases the distributor head 2 possesses a chamber cavity 8 in which the incandescent igniter 7 is located.
Figure 1 consists of two partial Figures. The upper partial Figure shows a side view, the lower partial Figure a plan view. From comparative examination of these Figures it is seen that the chamber davity 8 is constructed as a recess. The recess is provided with a partition 9 and the incandescent igniter with its incandescent unit is inserted into the partition- 9. Incandescent igniter 7 including the incandescent unit 10 is completely covered in this region by cover plate 5, and the fuel gas outlets 6 are similarly covered by this cover plate 5.
Figure 2 also consists of two partial Figures, namely an upper partial Figure that represents a side view and a lower partial Figure that represents a plan view. From comparative examination it is here seen that the chamber cavity 8 is constructed as an annular chamber surrounding the distributor head 2. The annular chamber possesses an upper cover flange 11 that is provided with drilled holes 12, and the incandescent unit 10 of incandescent igniter 7 projects through one of the drilled holes 12.
The above description of the simmering and cooking equipment is only given as an example. In contrast, the invention also relates to a form of construction in which the gas burner does not have an open flame but is covered by a ceramic glass plate. An ignition switch 13 is always present. It is an important feature of the invention that the ignition switch 13 can be operated by means of the gas regulator 4, thus it can be switched on by an opening movement of gas regulator 4 and can be switched off by a closing movement of gas regulator 4. Ignition switch 13 is constructed as a component of gas regulator 4 and forms a part of it. It is shown that gas regulator 4 possesses a regulating shaft 14 with an actuating nut 15 that is moveable in the axial direction of regulating shaft 14 when the latter is displaced. As can directly be seen from the Figure, ignition switch 13 can be switched on and off by means of the actuating nut 15. The gas regulator 4 could however also possess a regulating shaft 14 with an eccentric formation, the ignition switch 13 being operable by means of the eccentric formation.
