Abstract

1476679 Discharging hoppers REYNOLDS PRODUCTS Inc 20 Nov 1974 [21 Nov 1973] 50292/74 Heading B8S Apparatus for storing a suuply of ice in pieces and for delivering pieces of ice from that supply, comprises a bin 10 to whose storage area 50 ice is fed either manually or automatically, a plurality of side-by-side ice agitating and delivery members 26 (one shown) being disposed in the bin 10 for reciprocatory movement to deliver pieces of ice through a delivery shoot 52. Each member 26 has a toothed upper surface 28 and a recess 36 in which is received an eccentric 38, the latter being mounted on a shaft 40 common to all the eccentrics, the shaft 40 being rotatable by a motor (42), Fig. 2 (not shown). The eccentrics 38 are arranged in pairs across the width of the bin 10 with the eccentrics of each pair being 180 degrees out of phase, while each pair of eccentrics is 60 degrees out of phase with the adjacent pair, so that on rotation of shaft 40 the members 26 are reciprocated with adjacent ones of the members being reciprocated in out of phase relationship. The bin storage area 50 may be cooled externally by any conventional refrigeration apparatus.
