Abstract

144,898. Walford, E. W., (Taveira, A. A. M.). July 15, 1919. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Theft and like alarms.-A foot-operated lever is provided which applies the brakes and puts an alarm device into operative condition to detect starting of the engine; the lever may be arranged to lock the clutch pedal and is held in its operative position by a spring detent releasable by hidden or key-controlled means. The lever E is provided with two arms E<4>, E<5> connected respectively to the brake and to a cock on a whistle C fitted to the exhaust pipe D. The arm E<5> may be provided with a projection X engaging behind the clutch pedal A. The lever is held in its locking position by a hidden spring detent F released by a secret lever G<2> which may be secured by a lock. An alarm mechanically operated by the rotation of the engine may replace the whistle C.
