Abstract

1,186,394. Chairs. C. H. TURCKSIN [trading as CHRISTIAN H. TURCKSIN]. 6 April, 1967 [18 July, 1966], No. 15782/67. Heading A4M. A chair or settee comprises a chassis formed by two side members 12, 13 and cross struts 11, and two elastic bands 14, 15 forming the seat and the back-rest. The bands comprise tubes made of vulcanised rubber filaments extending from front to back of the chair. The seat band 14 is arranged around a frame 20 which is pivoted to the front of the chassis and the back band 15 is arranged around two cross-bars 21, 22 one of which 21 is pivoted to the side members of the chassis and the other 22 is connected by straps 28 to the frame 20 of the seat. A further elastic band 26 extends cross wise of the seat frame 20. In a settee (Figs. 5, 6) the front of a seat band 38 is secured to a frame 35 hinged at 37 to the chassis and the top of the back band (39) is secured to the chassis. The two adjacent ends of the two bands are tacked to a cross beam 35(a) of the hinged frame 35. Elastic belts 40 extend from the cross beam 35a to the chassis. The settee may be divided into three supporting frames with bands.
