Abstract

1,172,445. Processing X-ray films. EASTMAN KODAK CO. June 27, 1967 [June 28, 1966], No.29657/67. Heading G2C. X-ray film is processed in an apparatus whereby it is advanced by means of a series of rollers by (i) developing at pH 9À5 - 10À5 at 80 - 120‹ F. (ii) fixing at 80 - 120‹ F. (iii) washing at 80 - 120‹ F. and (iv) drying at 120 - 200‹ F. and said film is characterized in that it comprises a support having on at least one side thereof a silver halide emulsion layer having a melting point above 190‹ F. and containing 300 - 650 mgms/sq. ft. of silver as silver halide and, on the same side of the support, a total of 100 to 600 mgms/sq. ft. of a hydrophilic organic colloid. The colloid vehicle may be gelatine, casein, acylated gelatins, polyvinyl alcohol or partially hydrolyzed cellulose esters and vinyl ester polymers. The emulsion or the developer may contain gelatin hardening agents, e.g. formaldelyde, mucochloric acid, diacetyl, dichlorodioxane, diadehyde starch, aziridines, expoxy compounds, vinyl sulphones and dialdehydes and their bisulphite addition compounds as described in Specification 825, 544. The developer may also contain antifoggents e.g. those of the benzobiazole, benzothiozole, tetrazole, and thiazole series or anthraquinone sulphonic acid salts.
