Abstract
1,027,344. Catches. A. G. CARTER and H. G. ALOFS. May 22, 1963 [May 31, 1962], No. 20358/63. Headings E2A and E2B. In a safety-belt knuckle having two overlapping members 11, 12 held in engagement by a'cam 21 which may be released by a lever 23, the cam and lever are rotatably mounted on a shaft 19 and are biased by springs 28 and 35 (Fig. 4, not shown) which are secured at one end to the shaft by being tightly wound around a portion of the shaft which has a flattened part. To secure the shaft against rotation of the mounting holes for the shaft has a D-shape and to secure the shaft against axial movement a notch in the shaft is arranged to embrace a side wall in which the shaft is mounted. The lever 23 is formed with a central bearing on the shaft 19. A belt 15 is connected to the buckle as described in Specification 1,027,602.
