Abstract

1,002,236. Packing fragile articles. D. O'RIORDAIN. Dec. 3, 1963 [Feb. 4, 1963], No. 47765/63. Heading B8P. A container comprises a cover 5, a base 1, and one or more intermediate sections 2, 3, 4 adapted for superimposed interlocking assembly, each intermediate section having one or more openings 6 which register with openings in any other intermediate section to form cavities in which articles can be packed, the container being made of material such as foamed polystyrene. The base, cover and intermediate sections are interlocked by flanges 9 and ribs 10, and cross-pieces 9 and grooves 11, the cover 5 having a further cross-piece 12 which abuts the top surface of the section 4 between the rows of openings 6. The assembled container may be secured together by tie-straps or adhesive tape located in position by indents 13. A number of horizontally disposed containers can be joined together by passing a wire through holes provided in the containers.
