Abstract

The float consists of a hollow body (2) with valve mechanisms for controlled admission of water (10) to its internal volume. At least one first opening (4) is formed at the lower end of the body, and a tube (6) passes slidably into the internal volume through a second opening (8) at the upper part of the body. The first hole includes a hollow tube (12) which forms a water circulation passage, and is surrounded by an elastic ring (14) which secures the lower end of the float to the fishing line (16), which also passes through an eyelet (18) at an intermediate position of the body. The ring also forms a ballast weight to maintain the float in an approximately vertically upright position.

Description

 The invention is in the field of fishing, and more particularly line fishing, and it relates to a float with variable apparent density by the introduction of water.

 Floats are known for angling of a particular kind aiming to modify their apparent density by introduction of water, the so-called introduction of water aiming to confer an apparent density which is slightly lower or slightly higher than that of l according to the desired fish, and therefore, according to the resulting fishing method.

 There are thus known floats of a first type of its kind for predator fishing, zander in particular, according to which fishing the fisherman must "shoe" after the catch has brought the bait to the bottom to devour it. The difficulty to overcome for this type of float is that it can have an apparent density slightly higher than that of water when the predator drives the bait to the bottom, so as not to frighten it by resistance from the float at water penetration. The solution consisted in making them submersible, and one could in particular refer to patent FR-A-360282 (TAMPIER-VIGNE), which describes a float whose hollow body is filled by a tilting thereof under the effect of '' a socket, FR-E-85972 (GRONIER-GAGE), FR-E-86383 (GRONIER-GAGE), FR-A-1404516 (GRONIER-GAGE), and FR 9313958 (HANARD) which describe a float whose body hollow is filled by means of the "siphon" type, the float described by the last cited patent comprising means for adjusting the maximum amount of water that can be introduced inside the body, thanks to a sliding tube d exhaust air.

 Floats of another type of the genus are also known, intended for fishing for small frying or for so-called "English fishing", according to which fishing methods the immersion of the float, caused during a "touches", signals to the fisherman when he must "shoe".

The difficulties to overcome for this type of float are that they have an apparent density as close as possible to that of water so as not to frighten the catch when it nibbles or catches it, and that they are of a very low mass, of a very small overall volume, had nevertheless conspicuous. We can in particular refer to patent FR 2440691 (WECK) which describes a float of the kind, consisting of a hollow body provided with a piston for sucking water through an orifice made at the base of the body, in seen filling the latter with a desired amount of water, and finally adjusting the overall apparent density of the float.

 By comparing the two types of floats mentioned above, it can be seen that the introduction of water does not have the same destination and does not take place at the same time. In the first case, it takes place during a "touch", while that in the second case, it takes place prior to the wetting of the line and is carried out by the fisherman. Thus, these different floats are fundamentally different in their operation.

 The type of float to which the invention belongs is that of the second, because of the mode of fishing for which it is intended, and mainly because of its operation.

 The object of the invention is to provide a float for angling of the type mentioned above, the overall mass of which is as low as possible, thereby limiting its inertia and its resistance to penetration in water.

 In general, the invention consisted in developing a float, for deep-frying fishing or for angling fishing in particular, formed of a hollow body, of swollen tubular shape in particular, obtained by molding a plastic material, so that its mass is as small as possible, the said body having an orifice at each of its ends, the lower one for its spontaneous filling during its wetting, the other upper one for threading a tube d 'evacuation of air sliding tightly in its orifice for the adjustment of the desired quantity of admissible water as a function of the momentary sealing of the float, said sealing necessarily intervening for angling fishing in particular.

 It will be noted that it appears, despite an apparent analogy between the float of the present invention and that described by patent FR 9313958 (HASARD), that the tubular air discharge members respectively described do not operate at all in the same conditions, and do not meet the same goals or the same results, and that the float of the present invention does belong to said second type.

 The invention will be described, and details will be apparent from the description which will be given in connection with the figure of the accompanying plate, which figure illustrates in longitudinal section a preferred embodiment of a float of the invention.

 According to the invention, a float for angling (16), of the kind generally consisting of a hollow body 2 provided with means, called prime, for water intake and draining, and means, said second, to adjust the quantity of water admitted, is mainly characterized in that the first means consist of at least one lower orifice 4 opening at the lower part of the body 2, and the second means by an elongated tubular member 6 threaded sliding in an upper orifice 8 of the upper part of the body 2.

 It follows from these arrangements that the body 2 is at least partially filled with water 10 during its wetting, and more particularly up to the outlet in the body 2 of the tubular member 6, and finally only from a prior adjustment of the second means 6, that is to say by making the tubular member 6 penetrate more or less deeply inside the body 2, the apparent density of the float is spontaneously adjusted by its introduction into water, until notably being slightly lower than that of the latter.

 According to a preferred embodiment, the tubular member has a wall as thin as possible and a fairly large internal diameter, both to prevent an obstruction thereof by the formation of a meniscus of water and to make it visible, méis from afar.

 Preferably, the float comprises at its lower part a keel 12 formed by a tapering of the body 2, the said keel 12 further forming a conduit for the circulation of water 10; according to an equivalent embodiment of the keel 12, not shown in the figure, it is formed of a solid rod attached to the lower part of the body 2, said rod participating in the ballasting of the float.

 More preferably, the float is surrounded by a ring 14 at least at its lower end, the said ring 14 on the one hand constituting a member for fixing the float on the line 16, and on the other hand constituting a ballast member of the float for keeping it on the water 10 in a vertical position, in the preferred case where the ring 14 is heavy. It will be noted that the ring 14 preferably exerts on the body 2 a sufficient tightening to be able to wedge the line 16 between the ring 14 and the body 2, whereby the float can be placed and maintained at a desired height on the line 16 without providing other means, such as sinkers ,.

 Preferably finally, the float is provided around its median zone with an eyelet 18, said eyelet 18 constituting a passage member of the line 16 for fixing the float on the latter.

 According to a preferred embodiment, said ring 14 is open, the latter being for example shaped as a clip, and the eyelet 18 is open in "pigtail", so that the float can be secured at a point any of line 16 without having to thread it through one of its ends.

 Although a preferred embodiment of the invention has been described and shown, it should be understood that the scope of the latter is not limited to this form, but that it extends to any float comprising the characteristics set out above.
