Abstract

A yarn cutter and clamp for use in a circular knitter is combined with a unit to change the yarn passing to the knitting system. A clip is positioned near each yarn change unit to grip the yarn being used or the yarns ready for use. A fixed cutting blade is secured in a holder with a movable cutting blade, attached to a rotating part of the machine, to act successively with the fixed blades of each yarn change unit. The moving blades have a yarn grip unit. The unit is compact, allowing the design to be used with circular knitters having >=48 systems, giving a positive cutting and clamping action on the yarns.
