Abstract

Double crystallisn. process for H3PO4 prodn. in which the slurry obtd. by acid digestion of phosphate rock is subjected, after the first crystallisation of CaSO4 but before 2nd crystallisn., to a wet-screening stage, while the second liq.-solid sepn. is carried out after the second crystallisn. by conventional filtration. Process allows the two liq.-solid sepns. to be carried out economically while acids with high P2O5 contents are obtd. Pref. the sludge is treated before screening with an agent to encourage colloidal particle agglomeration. The screening appts. is pref. vibrated and fitted with several screens of different mesh sizes, which have several different slopes in different parts of the appts.
