Description
Construction elements with improved insulating properties
The present invention relates to construction ele-5 ments with improved insulating properties. More in, particular the invention relates to construction elements comprising at least one insulating layer, optionally accumulating layer, such as a sound deadening layer, a fire resistant layer or a heat resistant layer, and at least 10 one support layer, preferably a construction element composed of three layers of which the two outer layers are support layers, for example plaster of Paris plates with an insulating layer in between. However, as the case may be, it is also possible to apply a construction element, 15 composed of one support layer, such as a plaster of Paris plate or similar, and one insulating layer against an existing wall, such as a concrete or reinforced concrete wall or other customary material, with the insulating layer facing the existing wall with insufficient insulat-20 ing properties. This latter type is of importance in particular for existing constructions which no longer meet the desired properties with respect to sound deadening, fire resistance, heat resistance or accumulating properties .
25 Where plaster of Paris is mentioned in this speci fication at least one other material, such as sprayed concrete, foam concrete, limestone, wood, steel, aluminium, stainless steel, natural stone, baked brick may be used, instead of or together with said plaster of Paris- The 30 support layer is usually 1-120 ran thick-
The insulating layer is usually composed of at least one of the following materials: expanded polystyrene with a density of 15-60 kg/m3 (EPS) , polyi.socyanurate with 1037219 2 a density of 28-40 kg/m3 (PIR), polyurethane with a density of 28-40 kg/cm3 (PUR), extruded polystyrene with a density of 25-40 kg/cm3 (XPS), rock wool with a thickness of 20-150 nun with a density of 25-180 kg/cm3; expanded 5 polystyrene with an addition of graphite or carbon (colour: black/gray)(Neopor), foamed phenol with a density of 25-50 kg/cm3 (Resol-foam), expanded perlite, optionally with fibers (Perlite), The thickness of an insulating layer is usually within the range of 15-140 mm and will 10 also be determined by the intended result, that is that the thicker the layer the better the result.
Construction elements according to the invention may consist in various embodiments. Thus if a. construction element is intended for an independent partition, it will 15 preferably be composed of two support layers with one insulating layer between them, of two support layers with two insulating layers between them, or of three support layers and two insulating layers each one located between two support layers. If a construction element is intended 20 for improvement of an existing partition, it will, preferably be composed of one support layer with one insulating layer, or of one support layer with two insulating layers. Construction elements with two or more support layers may comprise at least one insulating layer in-25 sorted, thus allowing to adjust the character and capacity of the insulating layer on location.
If construction elements are intended for use in existing constructions, these construction elements will preferably have dimensions of 400 mm x 400 mm for length 30 and width, alternatively 500 mm x 500 mm as thus the customary dimensions of partitions may be covered completely. On application in new constructions the construction elements may also have the dimensions of a customary interior 3 partition.
The construction elements described above may also be used in suitable dimensions of a customary floor plate.
The various layers of the construction elements 5 according to the invention may be glued together or be anchored. Instead the support layers may be connected in such a way that the insulating layer or layers may be inserted or be replaced at choice. For use in existing constructions the construction elements may optionally be 10 provided with a recess at the bottom and a fitting protru-berance at the top, preferably in the middle of the bottom and the top respectively.
The invention is further elucidated by the accompanying drawings, wherein 15 Fig.1 shows the preferred type of two support lay ers and one insulating interlayer,
Fig.2 shows the type of two support layers and two insulating interlayers,
Fig.3 shows the type of three support layers and 20 two insulating interlayers,
Fig.4 shows the type of one support layer and one insulating layer.
In Figs.1-5 the first support layer is indicated with references 1, in Figs.2, 3 and 4 a second support 25 layer is indicated with reference 1' and in Fig.3 a third support layer is indicated with reference 1". In Figs.1-4 the first insulating interlayer is indicated with reference 2 and in Figs 3 and 4 a second insulating interlayer is indicated with reference 2'. In Figs.2-4 the support 30 layers may be identical or different and be composed of similar or different materials. In Figs.3 and 4 the insulating interlayers may be identical or different and be composed of similar or different materials.
4
Fig.5 shows in side view a support layer 1 with a recess 3 and a correspondingly shaped protuberance 3', allowing the next layer to be positioned on top of the preceding layer and warranting an adequate barrier.
5 Having thus described the present invention, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that variations and modifications can be effected in the described embodiments without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention.
