Epic chip-anthem EDM take on several classic Zelda tunes from the non-chalant AeroZ (Sebastian Freij):

"It's not my best work and I don't really have time to edit it right now, but I guess it isn't that bad."

Games:

  • Link's Awakening
  • Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • Zelda II: Adventure of Link

Breakdown:

  • 0.14 - "Tal Tal Mountains"
  • 0.48 - "Zelda's Lullaby" in minor countermelody
  • 1.26 - Zelda theme variation
  • 1.43 - "Sanctuary" - A Link to the Past
  • 2.10 - Zelda 2 intro variations
  • 2.51 - "Zelda's Lullaby"
  • 3.21 - Zelda theme variation

Seb's "isn't that bad" is a lot of people's "pretty damn good" - this might not have the timbral depth/performance of his pieces that incorporate live cello, but it's an energetic & inspirational weaving together of some of the more heroic/courageous themes from the series. Larry Oji quites Nin:

"Rock! A little muddy, IMO, but still clicking on all cylinders. Even while being pretty upbeat, this has a very foreboding and challenging feeling throughout, so the title of this is perfect. Nice work, Seb!

As Anaïs Nin said, "Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage," and an important component of courage is fear. Whatever gives you anxiety in life, acknowledge that fear, raise your sword, and start swinging. Today is your time of courage."

Motivational. Inspirational. Even slightly gravitational. Having read Oh, the Places You'll Go! a dozen times to my daughters, I'll quote some Seuss that seems relevant:

"And when you're alone, there's a very good chance
you'll meet things that scare you right out of your pants.
There are some, down the road between hither and yon,
that can scare you so much you won't want to go on.

But on you will go
though the weather be foul.
On you will go
though your enemies prowl.
On you will go
though the Hakken-Kraks howl."

Replace Hakken-Kraks with Dodongos or Darknuts and you've got it ;) AeroZ does a good job channeling an "heroic legend" vibe and layers plenty of synths with modulated levels of reverb for an expansive, maximalist aesthetic. Old gold is still gold; would love to hear some new work from Sebastian, but this holds up, has the right energy/momentum, and should resonate with many. Enjoy!

Yeah, the synth really shines as in weaves in and out of the different sources. This is pretty damn good.

The arrangement is very good in this remix! The playing around with the different themes was expertly done. I really enjoyed the lead synths in this remix, they were very SPICY. Great remix overall! :)
