A U.S. Navy Lockheed ES-3A Shadow of fleet air reconnaissance squadron VQ-5 Sea Shadows pictured during an aerial refueling from a U.S. Air Force Boeing KC-135R Stratotanker aircraft, in the 1990s. VQ-5 was established on 15 April 1991 at NAS Agana, Guam, and received its first ES-3A aircraft on 8 May 1992. The squadron shifted its home base to NAS North Island, California (USA), in December 1994, and was disestablished on 31 July 1999. The KC-135R was assigned to the 909th Air Refueling Squadron, 18th Wing, from Kadena air base, Okinawa, Japan.
