Biography

Marie Segger is a data journalist for The Economist, and covers a broad range of subjects from a quantitative perspective. She often reports on inequality, politics and cultural trends. Marie is an experienced public speaker who regularly gives talks and guest lectures about journalism, data and social media. She joined the newspaper as a social-media and data-journalism fellow in November 2017. Prior to The Economist, Marie was Spiegel Online’s Google News Lab fellow, and she has written for a number of publications in both Britain and her native Germany. Marie graduated from Goldsmiths College, London with a first-class MSc in computational journalism.
