Ah, I didn't realize that. Sadly, it seems that it would be still really difficult to get help from my devs with Puppet, because it is its own language. Chef being Ruby just makes for less friction for moving code between dev and ops, with better comprehension. For the Lazy Sysadmin who wants to give the keys to the devs when he goes on vacation, that's a must. :)

Only if the devs understand Ruby and want to deal with infrastructure management. Not easy asks.

That's why I try to aim for startups. Devs could try to say no, but if they want their sweat-equity (and perhaps real equity) to have value... stuff can't just go down because of an Ops vacation or bus error.

Oh, and if the devs don't know Ruby, I'm not working for that company anyhow. ;)
