Mexico holiday day 1

This is the current rebuild of my site, click to see the Old version (before you tell me I know that the url is new.letorey.co.uk that is because the ssl certificate works for this but not old).

After a long (14 hour) flight via Toronto we eventually got to our hotel at 12:30 in the morning and went straight to bed exhausted.

After a few hours sleep we had some breakfast at the hotel, mediocre.

We then went to find coffee and cash, around the corner 40m from our hotel we found a tiny and delightful coffee shop, Ex-Presso Café. Further round the corner we found an ATM. We got cash first as we were advised that cash was king in Mexico city then grabbed our coffee.

We then went out to find the equivalent of an oyster card for Mexico City. The closest Metro station appeared to be shut, although later we found it was only that entrance. So I asked in my terrible Spanish where I could get a travel card and the man pointed at the bus stop. At the bus stop we met a couple from Cambridge who were just in the process of topping up their cards and they kindly advised us what the different options were. I got mine, but when Susan tried it turned out that I'd just bought the last one, but our Spanish meant we just thought "What the hell is wrong".

So we walked up to the next stop and solve the problem. We walked around the local area and after a while decided to get some shade in in the local park. From the park we saw the Palacio de Bellas Artes an astounding building. We walked up to it to take a closer look and take some photos.

From out the front, I look up across the road and there were people in a rooftop cafe looking out over the Palacio de Bellas Artes, so we went across the street to Sears and asked the security how we get to the roof top cafe he just said "ocho", which even with our limited Spanish we understood as floor 8. When we got there we found it was called Café Don Porfirio, Sears Centro, the views truly were amazing and it was a great find.

Then we wound our way through the streets, one that only sold lighting and one that only sold plumbing to meet Daniel from With Locals. Who took us on an amazing street food tour.

We're now about to collapse after not much sleep.
