Fukuoka PayPay Dome

Home of the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks

Photo: Russel Tiffin (IG: @npb.stadiums.tour)

Also Known As: Fukuoka Dome

Opened in: 1993

Stadium Capacity: 40,122

Dimensions: LF & RF: 100 m (328 ft) / CF: 122 m (400 ft)

Description: PayPay Dome has undergone several name changes, and is the second oldest dome in NPB after Tokyo Dome. With a huge scoreboard and lighting displays, it probably comes closer to an MLB feel than any of the other domes in Japan.

Once a pitchers’ paradise, the addition of a “home run terrace” in 2015 has increased long-ball production significantly, making it arguably the most hitter-friendly park in the Pacific League. The roof in Fukuoka is retractable, though it seldom gets opened due to the somewhat high cost of doing so (¥1 million = $10,000).
