Memorial gathering for rtha's birthday
This is a casual gathering at Southpaw to mark what would have been rtha's 53rd birthday. Come have some food or a drink and hang out and tell stories about rtha or just hang out. I'll be asking for donations in her memory for the Golden Gate Raptor Observatory and the San Francisco Dyke March, two of her favorite organizations. [more inside]
Whisk[e]y and spirits ahoy!
Although I never got enough kids to do the earlier kid-friendly meetup, I'd like to do the bottle sharing form instead. So:
Come to my house, bring bottles of spirits you like, snacks if you want 'em, and the pleasure of your company.
Risk Getting Frisky with Brisket and Whisky!
It's been three years since our last whisky and potluck meetup, so let's do it again, on Saturday, January 28th! cortex and I will provide the venue, Greg_Ace will provide the brisket, and you provide the companionship, and perhaps some whisky and/or a shared dish! [more inside]
Family friendly whisky aficionado meetup! [Update: postponed!]
I'm both a parent – part time – and a whisky lover. Why not combine these things? I'm willing to offer some good bottles and a kid friendly place. My son is 7, my home is capacious, so let's taste good booze and let kids play!
Children are optional. I merely want to establish that they are welcome. If you're child free, but like whiskey, please come. Bring drinks! [Update: Postponed to Feb 4]
Utah Christmas - Board Games and Booze
Hey all. I know there aren't many of us here in snowy Utah, but I thought it might be nice to have a board game night. It could be potluck style or we could get dinner or order in. I'm open to any ideas, as long as drinking and games are involved I'm in. I can host, I have a pretty big living area, a nice dog, and a ton of games, or maybe someone more central located might want to volunteer. Who's in?
Burns Supper + potluck
New Year: Resolve to get some Goat-Frog in your life
Wednesday the 7th is the first Goat-Frog of 2015. You deserve some post-holiday shenanigans. Meet at the Goat under Michigan Avenue after work. Head over to the Frog for karaoke before 10. Bring your A-game.
December Goat
Alternately known as "100 Days to Anvil of Bacon Crom".
Same Goat time, same Goat place, followed by same Frog place, same Frog shenanigans. [more inside]
Goats & Frogs Next Week
Right? I'm reading this calendar correctly? First Wednesday in November is a week from today? Hopefully, cause I'll be Goat Frogging. You should join. [more inside]
April Goat Frog

Distilled Crazy After All These Years - Whisky/Whiskey Tasting Redux
Three years after our last (very successful) whisky-centric meetup/potluck, we're doing another one at my house! Bring a bottle of something you either like, or haven't tried but are curious about; we take little tastes of each, we compare and contrast, we all go home a little happier, wiser, and tipsier. Obviously, good liquor can be pricy, so if you can't afford an expensive (or even mid-priced) bottle that doesn't mean you aren't welcome! Booze is appreciated, and bringing a bit of food is encouraged, but come one come all. See below for food-pairing suggestions, also please be sure to update the spreadsheet with what food and drink you plan to bring. [more inside]
Memorial Drinks
Guys, I know he was justifiably banned from Metafilter, but wfrgms was my friend and he has died. I'm going to Delilah's, where he and I used to drink before the Goat Ups were the Goat Ups, on Tuesday, after work.
I hope someone can join me. [more inside]
See You Next Week--April Goatening
As the trickster sprite eamondaly threw me out of a cab last night, he rather cheerfully noted "See you next week!" which, of course, is true. Next week is the April Goatening.
You should come.
Bourbon & Rye
Time for another San Francisco booze meetup! This time: Bourbon & Rye whiskeys! [more inside]
First Goat of the New Year
Assuming we all make it through to the other side of the holidays, the First Wednesday of the Month (and, indeed, of the new year itself) is January 2. Join us at the Goat for tinybeers and random whiskeys and sandwiches of various types topped with fried eggs.
Wine, Whisk(e)y and Board Games in Toronto

Something Something May Goat
Same Goat time, same Goat location. We will also honor the closing of the Bizarro Goat. And THAT is why, you DON'T OFFER FRIES.
April Goat
So, Wednesday is April 4th, the first Wednesday in April. Shall we meet at the Goat as per usual?
Whiskey Wednesday at the Fountainhead
Because July 6th is weeks away, and because at least one noted member of the cabal* prefers whiskey to beers, let's meet at Fountainhead on Wednesday, June 22. Known for their amazing beer list (bring your reading glasses) and, well, acceptable food offerings, the Fountainhead also has an impressive collection of whiskeys and a special on Wednesday nights. 6:30. No reservations, but I'll call the day of to let them know how many to expect. [more inside]
Monthly Goat.
Tiny Beers, cheeseborgers, possibly springlike weather. What has everyone been up to since last month? Meet us at the usual place, at the usual time, and listen to the usual stories. It will be fun! No, really. It usually is! The question is: "What are you doing to ensure it stays that way?" That's what I thought; see you there.
Whiskey Tasting at Greg_Ace's house
At the last Portland meetup, the subject of a scotch tasting came up. The backstory is long and unnecessary, but the upshot is that we thought it sounded like a hoot and I'm willing to host it at my house in SE Portland (4414 SE Center St., near SE 42nd and Powell). NOTE: The original plan of "five or six different types of scotch" has mutated into "whiskey" in general, to include Irish whiskey and bourbon. [more inside]
Holiday Goat.
The Monthly Drunkening approaches. On the one hand, there will be no reporters or random gawkers. On the other, we will be responsible for our own sizzle. I think we can handle it.
