Substance Use Treatment

Reclaiming Your Life: Outpatient Substance Use Treatment

Homes4Hope Therapeutic Solutions understands that addiction is a complex disease that affects not only the individual but also their loved ones. We believe that recovery is possible, and we are dedicated to providing compassionate and effective outpatient substance use treatment to help you reclaim your life.

Located in downtown Salisbury, MD, we have established a comprehensive outpatient program in a flexible and supportive environment where you can address the underlying causes of addiction, develop healthy coping mechanisms, and build a strong foundation for lasting sobriety. We recognize that each individual’s journey with substance use is unique, and we tailor our treatment plans to meet your specific needs and goals.

Common Types of Addictive Disorders

Substance Abuse

Substance abuse refers to the harmful or hazardous use of psychoactive substances, including alcohol and illicit drugs. This can lead to a range of physical, mental, and social problems. Physical dependence on a prescribed medication does not always mean there is a substance abuse problem. However, a proper assessment done by a qualified clinician can determine if detox and treatment are needed to discontinue use.

Problem Gambling

Problem gambling, also known as gambling disorder, is characterized by an inability to control gambling habits despite negative consequences. It can lead to financial problems, relationship issues, and emotional distress.

Our Evidence-Based Approach

We utilize evidence-based therapies and interventions that have been proven effective in treating substance use disorders. Our approach is holistic, addressing the physical, emotional, and social aspects of addiction. We believe that true recovery involves healing on multiple levels, and we work with you to create a personalized treatment plan that encompasses:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to mental health challenges. It focuses on developing coping skills and strategies to manage symptoms and improve overall well-being.

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) combines behavioral therapy and medications to treat substance use disorders, particularly opioid addiction. MAT helps individuals manage withdrawal symptoms, reduce cravings, and achieve long-term recovery.

Family Involvement

Family involvement plays a crucial role in supporting individuals in their recovery from mental health and substance use disorders. Family therapy and educational resources can help families understand the challenges, develop coping strategies, and foster a supportive home environment. Call our offices to find out when our family education groups are held monthly.

Peer Support

Peer support involves individuals with lived experience of mental health or substance use challenges providing support, encouragement, and guidance to others in recovery. Peer support specialists offer a unique perspective, understanding, and hope to individuals navigating their recovery journey.

Support from family and sober companions is crucial in helping individuals with substance abuse disorders. We recommend family sessions throughout the treatment process.

Outpatient Groups and Individual Sessions

Outpatient therapy offers flexibility for individuals seeking mental health or substance use treatment. Group sessions provide a supportive environment to connect with others, while individual sessions allow for personalized attention and treatment planning.

Intensive Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) provide a higher level of care than traditional outpatient services. They offer more frequent therapy sessions and a structured treatment plan for individuals who require more support while maintaining daily life responsibilities.

DUI Education

DUI (Driving Under the Influence) education programs are designed to educate individuals convicted of DUI offenses about the dangers of impaired driving, the legal consequences, and strategies for preventing future offenses.

Initial Assessment Process

Clients are asked to arrive 30 minutes to an hour before their appointment to complete the necessary paperwork. Afterward, they will meet with a counselor for a comprehensive assessment aimed at understanding their current situation, health status, and specific needs.

After the assessment, clients must undergo a urine drug screen. Following this, they will have another scheduled appointment with a counselor, pending review by a team of professionals for a treatment recommendation.

The process of determining a treatment recommendation is thorough and typically concludes within a week. It involves a detailed review of assessment findings and drug screen results to identify the most effective treatment approach for the individual. Afterward, the individual can discuss the treatment recommendation with their counselor during the scheduled follow-up appointment, allowing for clarification, questions, and decision-making regarding the next steps in the treatment process.

Depending on the outcome of this discussion and the treatment recommendation, the individual will either be placed in a suitable group therapy setting or, if necessary, referred to a higher level of care. This decision is made with the individual’s best interests in mind, aiming to provide the most appropriate and effective support to address their specific needs and promote their recovery journey.

Program Duration

IOP is four days a week for 2 hours and 15 minutes each day, with day or evening hours available. Outpatient programs range from 1-8 hours a week, offering day and evening times for groups and individual sessions.

With an individualized treatment approach, groups are primarily used, ranging from one to four days a week. As treatment goals progress, the frequency decreases. Individual sessions range from weekly to monthly, depending on the phase in which an individual is in.

Relapse Prevention

Individuals regularly undergo relapse prevention in group and individual sessions, updating their personal relapse prevention plan every 30 days. After completing the group sessions, they can continue with monthly individual sessions. Additionally, a peer recovery specialist will follow up monthly with those who have completed the outpatient substance abuse treatment program.
