Currently the accordion-registration element only supports a part of the available SMuFL symbols It would be good to have the ability to encode them all in a proper way.
Espescially the distinction between left hand and right hand is missing. This could be enabled by adding a special attribute to accordion-registration, like a semantic one (hand=left/right) or a visual one (form=round/square).

My feeling for musicxml is to encode both semantic and visual but give a default for what the visual should be given the semantic (and/or vice-versa).
But I don't know enough about accordion to make a recommendation about this -- can someone who knows the technique and notation explain. I had no idea that you could cross-hand an accordion registration -- the only videos i could find didn't demonstrate this. THanks
