Google Drive Sync: Use a normal file #278

Description

@yurikhan

What is the problem?

Violentmonkey sync data is stored in application data, hidden from the user.

How to reproduce it?

  1. Set up Google Drive sync.
  2. Perform sync.
  3. Open the Google Drive site.

What is the expected result?

I expect to see a directory named Violentmonkey or some such, containing my scripts in clearly labeled files, so that I could download, modify, copy and rename them using any Google Drive client, or salvage them in case Violentmonkey breaks and I am forced to migrate to a different extension and/or browser. Maybe even share a single set of scripts between different extensions on different browsers.

What is the actual result?

Violentmonkey scripts are not accessible through Google Drive web UI or any Google Drive client. To back up scripts from Google Drive, I have to have a working Firefox installation with a working Violentmonkey extension.

Environment

  • Browser: Firefox Nightly
  • Browser version: 58.0a1
  • Violentmonkey version: 2.8.18
  • OS: Ubuntu 16.04
