What are you trying to do?

Multiple users belongs to the same User Group, would be nice to select one of those users to review or publish in the nexts steps.

What's your proposed solution?

Besides submit and approve button, Would be great to have the option to assign or select from a dropdown the user to review or publish the entry.

If this implementation is also implemented for notifications the feature would be complete.

Additional context

The same for select publisher or the intermediate reviewers

Not a bad idea, although it entirely depends on the workflow required. For some people, this would be detrimental to the review process:

  • The editor doesn't know who they should submit it to.
  • The editor shouldn't be able to pick who reviews things (for many internal reasons. Large review teams, favouritism, staff unavailable, wrong department, etc).
  • This can be complicated with multiple reviewer groups.

We can give it some thought!

Thank you so much @engram-design for your quick reply. Yes I got your point, but particularly for this specific requirement would be great to have at least the option to select the target Reviewer or Publisher.

For the same reason that you mentioned about having multiple users in a User Group, is maybe good to have the option of assign for a reviewer or a publisher, instead to send a notification to all the members of a User Group. I also agree with maybe not provide this feature for the editor role, but at least for the "reviewer" role.

Off course if no one user is selected from a dropdown, the notification will be send as it is now.

We have run into a similar requirement. The workflow requires submissions to be assigned to specific users because we are dealing with a large data set of entries as well as reviewers. So publishers (not editors) wish to predecide which editors are assigned to which reviewers.

Right now the way we are tackling this is by added a custom User field to the Entry that tracks the entry’s reviewer. However, we are unable to filter down the list of submissions related to the {{ currentUser }}. (Is it possible to allow the list of submissions to be filtered based on conditions on the submitted entry?)
