Yes. If you go to the advanced settings page (double click the icon in the upper right on the main web interface) then you should see a setting named "Additional Watchdog Timeout". This is exactly what you are asking for. You can also modify /etc/genmon/genmon.conf directly and add or modify the setting named "watchdog_addition". By default this setting does not exist in the genmon.conf file so it defaults to zero. genmon will wait either 2 or 8 seconds depending if it is using serial or TCP communications. This parameter will add to the default values of 2 or 8 seconds. |

I operate multiple Genmon instances, each running in its own VM at a central datacenter. These instances communicate over a statewide microwave network, which typically maintains 100% connectivity. However, during OSPF route changes, we occasionally experience brief periods of packet loss. This sometimes triggers Genmon to send an alert email stating, “Generator Monitor is not communicating with the controller at [xyz].”
Is there a way to introduce a short delay—perhaps a couple of minutes—before this alert is triggered, to reduce noise from transient network events?
