I tried the installation with ubuntu aswell:

Did you follow the instructions here: https://github.com/abinit/abinit/releases/tag/10.2.5

Did you download the developer (that doesnt include configure) or the production version? I just downloaded the production version and it includes configure script and compiles for me.
