Yes, I was thinking of implementing something like that a while ago. There is already a way to do that in the code as an externalpipe patch: If you are interested I'll try to put that in the pipeline for future enhancements 👍
If you happen to have URLs in the terminal window, just press TERMMOD+U after installing xurls and rofi.
Just remember to set an environment variable called BROWSER to set your browser. TERMMOD currently is set to (ControlMask|ShiftMask), but you can alter that in config.def.h
