I'm a beginner. And I have tried to use docker/ standalone / from source. But met the same problem. It's very frustrating.
Zap version: 2.12.0
WebGoat: maybe the latest

And I tried to close the vpn, but it's not useful:(

The easiest way to use ZAP as a proxy is to launch a pre-configured browser from the "Manual Explore" page:

Make sure to connect to port 8080 and not 8081. You might need to change ZAP's default proxy port from 8080 to something else (e.g. 8090) since WebGoat runs on 8080 by default.
