Sometimes the link over bridge cable freezes, sometimes in one direction only.
Hypotheses:
state sync thread dying
something going on with the cable itself / uart
Tests to perform:
Assuming that left backlight is stuck, try issuing reboot via the reboot macro and observe whether left half reboots. If yes, then the link is intact and probably the source state_sync thread is to be blamed.
Hook oscilloscope and see what is going on on the uart.

I had the left half LEDs freeze tonight. The UART log showed Con state: UartLeft(Disconnected). Normally after disconnecting, it would immediately show Resetting left right link! Bidirectional, Con state: UartLeft(Ready), but it took a full minute this time. Then it just reset the left right link a few more times.
The left half LEDs stayed frozen on the mouse layer, but the keystroke output and layer switching worked normally for both halves. OLED didn't show any errors. After about 7+ minutes, I reset the left half, and it resolved.
Unfortunately, the logs don't really show anything too interesting, but I saved them if you want to see.
I can't remember if there's an existing relevant GitHub issue, so if you think it's worth posting somewhere, let me know.

Have you tried reconnecting the bridge cable?
Yeah, I tried reconnecting the bridge cable, mashing some keys for a while, and then I let it sit for a few minutes to see if it would resolve/reset on its own. No help. Using the reset button on the back (left half) solved it.
