Chapter 3

Theory

  • Very few comments on this chapter. Overall, I like the approach and the level of detail quite a lot
  • My only idea is that the same “sketchy” drawing you used for ‘Plan’ could be used to illustrate each of the main dplyr verbs when those are introduced. I find I tend to think of those operations very “geometrically” (boxes getting taller/shorter/narrower/wider) so others who internalize things visually might benefit?

Technology

  • If mentioning apply(), perhaps allude to the existence of a family of *apply() functions? I find some of the others very useful for parsing API results which I believe are discussed in a later chapter

Platform Specific

  • I always debate if things like IDEs belong in the main text or the appendix when they are subject to change
  • Would you want to discuss GitHub in this chapter as well since it was mentioned in the previous?
