date-tody-format seems like it should be date-today-format; am I right in that? The docs also have it listed as "tody" so I'm not entirely sure.

I was wondering why my time format wasn't working... Changed to date-today-format in my config which fixed it, so it looks like it is supposed to be "today" after all.

Great, so it's just documentation and the default config file that need to be fixed, not the code itself.
