Bug Summary

Disclaimer: This may be 2 separate but related issues

When attempting to use Office 365 applications such as Outlook, OneNote, or Word; non-ASCII[?] keystrokes are not properly being recognized. Input will either be discarded, not appear, not paste, or will add a space and move the cursor to the left. This makes the entire Office 365 suite effectively unusable due to inconsistent inputs.

Microsoft officially supports Firefox for Microsoft 365 & for Outlook, so there is no reason that this should not function. This claim of support removes concern for UA spoof as previously mentioned in #237

This has been replicated on Floorp 11.22.0, and Firedragon 11.22.0 with both Arch Linux and Windows 11, but the behaviors are not exactly identical, aside from inability to paste.

Reproduction Steps

  1. Open browser
  2. Visit an Office 365 application such as
  1. Login is required
  2. Attempt to type somewhere, or paste input to any field, especially accented characters

Expected Behavior

Inputs should work consistently on any field, and pasting should always be possible regardless of locale or clipboard content.

Actual Behavior

  • Notice in console from paste attempts:
clipboard.read() has been overwriten with a no-op. See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1815733#c13 for details.
  • Failure to paste using CTRL+V or Right Click -> Paste
  • Accented character input causes cursor to move left and occasionally insert a trailing space
  • Some accented keys appear to not register at all, or register as a single space
  • Inserting unicode via compose key (equivalent to Windows ALT code) does not always trigger the extra space
  • Upon first press of an accent key, this error is logged in console:
This page is in Quirks Mode. Page layout may be impacted. For Standards Mode use “<!DOCTYPE html>”.

Browser Version

11.22.0

Operating System

Arch Linux & Windows 11

Additional Context

  • Tested with:
    • Troubleshoot mode
    • new profile
    • no extensions
    • Enhanced Tracking Protection disabled
    • Firefox ESR 128.6.0esr
  • It is not possible to test each application without an active 365 subscription
  • OneNote can be freely used for testing after login
