This is a note I sent to Andrew Ziem regarding an issue with the portable version of Bleachbit

"I have experienced a problem with the excellent Bleachbit 4.6.2 (with Winapp2-Bleachbit) in that it has been knocking out Windows Photo Viewer as the default each time I run the cleaner.
I have identified the problem and it only occurs when Microsoft windows/Windows Shell is ticked. This has only started recently which is odd as I have been running Bleachbit for some time without any problems with that box ticked."

His reply:

"Good job isolating the issue because that is helpful. Around August
29, I pushed a major update of the Winapp2.ini cleaning rules that
were not updated since September 2023. The cleaning rule "Windows
Shell" cleaner comes from there, so I encourage you to file an issue
there: https://github.com/MoscaDotTo/Winapp2/issues

Hopefully you can work this out with them. Tip: elaborate on the
"knocking out." Once they release the fix on their side, let me know,
and I will publish it to BleachBit users."

The knocking out of a default app only occurs with Photo Viewer on my system, all other defaults remain unaffected with the Windows Shell option ticked which I'm guessing is due to Photo Viewer being a dll and the other are exe files. I do not possess enough knowledge to assert that though.
