British Poultry Standard
Le British Poultry Standard (Standard britannique des volailles) est le standard de race le plus ancien au monde en ce qui concerne l'élevage de volaille. Il est publié par le Poultry Club of Great Britain et constitue la référence officielle dont se servent les juges pour évaluer les sujets présentés aux différents concours et expositions au Royaume-Uni et en Irlande.
Histoire
modifierCe standard a été publié pour la première fois en 1865 par le premier Poultry Club of Great Britain[1], club qui avait été fondé trois ans auparavant[2]. Ce standard est intitulé alors The standard of excellence in Exhibition Poultry et il est édité par William Bernhardt Tegetmeier[1]. C'est la première publication de ce genre. La compilation et la mise à jour est ensuite confiée à l'actuel Poultry Club of Great Britain[2]. L'édition actuelle date de 2008 par Blackwell, la sixième dans cette numérotation[3].
Utilité
modifierCe standard sert de référence officielle aux juges des concours et expositions de volailles au Royaume-Uni et en république d'Irlande. Il contient les standards de race de plus de cent cinquante races de poule, de canard, d'oie et de dindon ; les races de pigeon domestique ne sont pas comprises.
