Cool and comfortable temperatures forecast across Taiwan Sunday: CWA

Taipei, March 9 (CNA) Temperatures ranging between 21 and 28 degrees Celsius will be felt in Taiwan throughout the day on Sunday, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).

The CWA forecast temperatures of 21 to 23 degrees in northern Taiwan and Yilan, while all other areas on Taiwan proper will experience hotter temperatures ranging from 25 to 28 degrees.

In the outlying counties, Penghu will be slightly cooler at 16-19 degrees, while temperatures of 13-20 degrees are forecast for Kinmen and 10-13 degrees on the Matsu Islands, the CWA said.

On Sunday night, temperatures throughout Taiwan will drop to 14 to 17 degrees.

Meanwhile, independent meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮) said Sunday that Taiwan could experience summer-like temperatures from Monday through Friday next week.

According to current forecasts, however, a cold weather front will arrive in the country next weekend, causing a rapid drop in temperatures that will extend to March 17 or 18, Wu said.

The CWA said that with a decrease in atmospheric moisture on Sunday, only the northern coast of Keelung, Greater Taipei and the eastern half of the island would have a chance of brief showers on Sunday.

Also on Sunday, the CWA issued strong wind advisories for nine municipalities across Taiwan.

The administration issued yellow advisories, indicating an average wind speed of 38.9 kilometers per hour or gusts reaching 61.9 km/h, for Taoyuan, Taichung and Tainan, as well as Miaoli, Changhua, Yunlin, Chiayi, Pingtung and Penghu counties.
