It will land on any non-engaged mob, or on any mob engaged by a member of your party/alliance. You cannot "accidentally" damage a mob engaged by another party.
yes it is an AOE spell so all enemies within the Area Of Affect will take damage from this spell, and therefore they will also aggro you and your PT....use extreme caution when using any AOE spell!
They also can cause so much pure hate, without doing damamge, to cause agro from things like rarabs from outside the fight. Seen it happen in dunes. BLM running from 3 rarabs after dumping 4 stoneagas, and no they were not hurt any (I checked the log). They came after the BLM on pure hate.
The Rarab's linked; and you three each need to take an English grammar class. Oh and if the BLM cast 4 Stonegas the BLM would be dead buddy, check cast time/recast time. It only takes 1 -Ga spell to smack them all... and NO spells for them to link!!! omg really!
First off... there is no need in this kind of forum to attack someone on his/her grammar. Not all of us have English as their native language and certainly not all of us are Harvard material. So please have the dignity to respect people's efforts to write in English.
Secondly... I disagree with your statement that no BLM is able to cast four stonega's in the Dunes and expect to live through it. As a BLM29/WHM14 with my evasion skills capped, I have no problem whatsoever to outlast a 1+ minute fight against gobs or lizards, especially not after a paralyze/frost/rasp combo. Most of the time the monsters don't hit me at all and if they do, I'm only taking 10 points or less of damage. Plenty of time to do 3-4 Stonega's.
However... I wouldn't recommend on using stonega to eliminate a single target. That would be a waste of MP and thus of time (resting). Stonega (and in fact all other -ga spells) are better used in harvesting techniques (e.g. against a gang of 20+ Quadavs in Pallborough Mines).
Most people seem to be unaware of the fact that a BLM with a decent dagger and his dagger skills capped is a mean killing machine (ever seen "Gust Slash" in action?) and not at all the fragile mage everyone believes him to be. Try it and you'll be surprised to learn that no worthless or easy prey target is a match to a skilled BLM, especially not if you're using the right combo of enfeebles and throw in an occasional DRAIN.

This spell can be purchased in Selbina from Chutarmire. Depending on your nations rank in the ocnquest, it might be cheaper or more expensive. I just got it for about 8.3k, which slightly mroe expensive than AH. Jeuno AH has been sellin it for about 8k (Ramuh), and its also been about that every where else too. This spell is VERY cool. Helps out lots when farming Yags in Giddeus and gobs in Vulkrum. If you get any spell, make sure this is one in your list.

This does Crazy damage, its not just an area damage spell its also far far more powerfull then Fire 1. I would sugest getting this and all area spell's mainly for the fact that there the higher version of the same lvl spell (for instance it goes "Fire, Firega, Fire II Firega II") It does 175 damage on average I've done 241 with Magic Burst.
