The Fermi Science Support Center (FSSC) runs the guest investigator program, creates and maintains the mission time line, provides analysis tools for the scientific community, and archives and serves the Fermi data. This web site is the portal to Fermi for all guest investigators.
Look into the "Resources" section for finding schedules, publications, useful links etc. The "Proposals" section is where you will be able to find the relevant information and tools to prepare and submit proposals for guest investigator projects. At "Data" you will be able to access the Fermi databases and find the software to analyse them. Address all questions and requests to the helpdesk in "Help".
Fermi Observations for MW 873
Mission Week 873 begins with a continuation of the asymmetric -50/+60 deg. profile from the previous week. Then, on DOY 51 (2025-2-20) at 12:22 UT a 10-minute freeze observation occurs during which a -50 deg. modified sine profile is loaded. This profile continues until the end of the mission week. The survey repeat period is based on a 5680s orbital period. Note that positive rock angles are south, and negative rock angles are north.
The Fermi Cycle 18 solicitation was amended on February 5 to clarify that the page limit for the Science/Technical/Management section of Phase-1 proposals is four pages for Regular proposals and six pages for Large proposals. These page limits include figures but not references. This is a change from Cycle 17 when the 4- and 6-page limits included references. As a reminder, the solicitation was amended on January 17 to change the proposal due date to March 5, 2025. Full details of the Fermi Cycle 18 solicitation can be found in Roses Appendix D.6
The Phase 1 deadline for the Fermi GI program has been deferred to 5 March 2025. Please see the Cycle-18 call for proposals (ROSES D.6) for details and contact the Fermi Helpdesk with any questions (fermihelp@milkyway.gsfc.nasa.gov).
LAT data processing was restored over the weekend. It will take another day or more to finish processing the remaining backlog.
