Etymology
editFrom Old Anatolian Turkish [script needed] (yeke, “large”), from Middle Mongol ᠶᠡᠬᠡ (yeke),[1] from Proto-Mongolic *jeke whence also Modern Mongolian их (ix, “great”).
Attested since the 13th century.[1]
