  • Although grammatically masculine, this is used nonreferentially, for example, when talking about a general situation, action or event, rather than any particular noun. To refer to a masculine or feminine noun, hwnna and honna are used respectively.
  • Hynny is used with the same meaning in south Wales and is also the preferred word in formal language.
