fire load (plural fire loads)

1. The anticipated amount of wildfire control necessary in a given period and region, based on the number of current fires, the probable number of new fires, and their anticipated intensity.
2. The quantity of combustible matter in a given area, or the quantity of heat that can be generated by its combustion.
