Probably related to añt (on),[4] or to Proto-Indo-European *h₂entíos, Proto-Indo-European *h₂ent-.[5] Alternatively, related to Armenian անութ (anutʻ, armpit), via a Proto-Indo-European *h₂(V)nt-h₂-o-. Cognate with Latvian azuots (bosom).
