Noun

- (acupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine) meridian (any of the pathways on the body along which chi or qi (life force) is thought to flow and, therefore, the acupoints are distributed; especially, one of twelve such pathways associated with organs of the body)
[MSC, trad.]
- From: 2012 April 12,

- Professor Li Hui expresses that after their paper was published, it attracted the attention of traditional medicine experts. This was because vowels are thought to be related to the meridian theory of traditional medicine; the "Six-character Formula" of Taoist health maintenance states that vowel pronunciation can help clear the meridian, and the 20 vowels of Fengxianese just so happen to correspond to the 20 meridians of the human body.
[MSC, simp.]
