editNot from the root ح ر ش (ḥ-r-š) related to “scratching” and “instigating” but from Ge'ez ሐሪሥ (ḥäriś, “rhinoceros”). Doublet of حُرْش (ḥurš, “forest”), see Hebrew חֹרֶשׁ (ḥóreš, “grove, thicket”).
