Laptops
editWhat's with the horribly-written blurb about clamshell laptops at the bottom of the article? I'm tempted to remove it because, aside from needing a complete rewrite, I don't think the ZWL series were the first laptops to use the clamshell design (the Tandy Model 200 might have beaten them but I'm still looking). -lee 05:24, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
"SpeakEZ" VCR voice guide
editI'm not sure how this would fit in, but I've used a Zenith VCR using this voice guide (I've heard of an older Sony Betamax with a voice guide built in, around 1984). If someone knows its development, it would be greatly appreciated. Jedo1507r 05:16, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
"Z" Logo
editCompare the Zenith logo with this one at the web page of JAM Creative Productions. Anyone see a similarity? Mattderojas 02:41, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
Adding Technical support
editI would like to add a link to a technical support site for Zenith. At http://www.fixya.com/support/zenith there are experts that solve technical problems for free. It's also rated #1 when searching Google for "Zenith support" and "Zenith troubleshooting". I believe it's beneficial, if you have any comments please write them below. Zenith to LG
editCrap, they were so good too. in the late 80's and early 90's that is, with the Advanced System 3's and stuff. Daniel Christensen (talk) 18:43, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
Product list
editIs a full product list available online anywhere? Drutt (talk) 10:16, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
Where's the remote?
editThis page claims Zenith did it first; McMahon, p.127, credits Philco with having one in 1939. Who got there first? TREKphiler any time you're ready, Uhura 15:28, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
NAFTA and globalism
editAmerican Zenith sold in 1995 victim of NAFTA and foreign imports. The untold history not found in the biased article. Why protect failed trade policies? 207.119.114.105 (talk) 23:46, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- If you have independent reliable sources making that claim, we might have something to discuss. Otherwise, your POV is simply not welcome here. - SummerPhD (talk) 04:21, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
History
editWant to add something, but I'm not sure this is the correct way to get a new section, so this is also a test.
My dad, worked for Rauland (associated with Rauland-Borg, Rauland Critical Communication & AMATEK) in the 60s and they also did other research as well as making other tubes my dad led development on. They were scan converter and data storage tubes. Similar to this one; that he most certailny led development of: http://www.mif.pg.gda.pl/homepages/frank/sheets/201/8/8098.pdf Listed here in references #48: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_vacuum_tubes
Searching Rauland Scan Converter tubes turns up things like this: http://lampes-et-tubes.info/sc/RAULAND.pdf
No mention of special tubes: https://www.rauland.com/about/our-history
I have some of these tubes, but am not sure if some unmarked ones are from Rauland because I think that whole group went to Warnecke Electron Tubes in Des Planes IL. I'm not sure if Warkecke was a startup of Rauland guys, but it was later bought/absorbed by Northrup. I also have some papers to look through
I also worked at Rauland after the Navy in 1966-7 in the micro Channel dept. This was a glass plate with millions of holes used in medical filtering and a night vision tube; a more advanced technology than the previous, I believe, called the "Star-light Scope". I tested the plates for the night vision tubes. I am unaware of many other on-line docs, but have some printed article copies from that era when Rauland's things were auctioned, by dad's co-worker Adolf Schmidt. I can digitize them, but have no place ti upload them to. -- Steve -- (talk) 20:39, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
