The flatback turtle has a depressed shell with turned up sides. It used to be known as Chelonia depressa, but it is now called Natator depressus. It is found only in the tropical waters of northern Aust.

The name flatback is used for Geochelone platynota. 86.76.216.74 14:01, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Geochelone platynota is for the flatback tortoise, Natator depressus is for the flatback turtle. DavidB601 (talk) 19:09, 15 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I am a student working on adding information to this site for my Marine Biology Seminar. I will be adding throughout the semester. (Aeivkovich (talk) 20:10, 21 March 2016 (UTC))Reply

Hi, again. After looking at this page more I realized that the current information posted is copied word for word from one source. The information that I post after today will be from what I have been working on in my seminar this semester.(Aeivkovich (talk) 20:20, 4 April 2016 (UTC))Reply

FLATBACK INFO: The flatback turtle is named after it’s flat carapace. The carapace is grayish green. Adults weigh 200 pounds on average and only nest in Australia. This small distribution leaves them classified as data deficient. Their scientific name is Natator depressus. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lightfurynadder (talkcontribs) 00:57, 5 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
