I don't know about "lightweight". It's a fast-based and easy read, but moved me to tears and resonates with significant themes... I see the adjective not only as judgemental, but inaccurate. Chris Quirke 09:37, 26 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Citations

edit

I do not think that the article still requires the citation note at the top. It seems to all be well verified now. Please weigh in, and I will remove in a couple of weeks if everyone agrees or chooses not to respond. —Zujine|talk 17:33, 8 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

I removed it - belatedly. 31.52.165.201 (talk) 21:54, 6 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Brexit Party

edit

Pearson announced her support for Nigel Farage's Brexit Party in the Telegraph in May 2019, in the lead-up to the European Parliament elections. https://twitter.com/TelePolitics/status/1128585865033392128 'It’s not the Brexit Party that’s nasty and populist and disrespectful. Nowadays, we leave that kind of thing to the Liberal Democrats' https://www.telegraph.co.uk/women/politics/people-like-flocking-brexit-party/?hootPostID=2c06d42793dc12d07e8efb50921b714b

https://twitter.com/sundersays/status/1128591158328864768 'Alison [sic] Pearson, LibDem to Brexit Party switcher, says she would have been a candidate except for personal circs. Sees intolerance & incivility as mainly Remain. Defends Claire Fox as "all round good egg" receiving unfair criticism [over support IRA bombs & assassination attempts]' (Brexit Party candidate in the north-west, Claire Fox, is a former member of the Revolutionary Communist Party and an avowed and unreformed apologist for IRA violence including the Manchester and Warrington bombings, which is causing considerable concern locally, not least because Colin Parry, whose son was killed at Warrington, is very unhappy with her candidature. Allison says she's an 'all-round good egg.') Khamba Tendal (talk) 19:50, 15 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Bradshaw

edit

It depends, but Pearson's extraordinary doxxing attack on Twitter user Dave Bradshaw, who suggested that she and other far-right commentators were inciting hatred towards NHS workers during the Covid crisis, may prove notable. Pearson kept up the attack, aggressively tweeting, 'You're finished,' and threatening legal action even after Bradshaw apologised and mentioned his mental-health problems and suicidal ideation. There has been a certain amount of coverage, such as:- https://www.kentonline.co.uk/ashford/news/youre-finished-telegraph-columnist-threatens-to-sue-kent-based-scientist-240167/ Khamba Tendal (talk) 19:24, 4 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

It is notable IMO, and is already listed in the article, although I think what we have now could be expanded further. However, Twitter is not considered a reliable source so avoid citing it directly. NemesisAT (talk) 22:32, 4 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sister

edit

Early life includes "Her sister Kathryn, born in 1964, four years below her at school, took A-levels in the same subjects.". How relevant is that to this article? Mcljlm (talk) 20:53, 23 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Anthony Lane?

edit

I’ve corrected a mischaracterization of a source on Ms Pearson’s relationship status, but am not sure whether she is (still) (married/living with) Anthony Lane (which I had assumed, but for which I don’t have a current source.)
