Hiligaynon is spoken in the Western Visayas region as well as in Soccsksargen region of Mindanao, in the Philippines. It is a part of the family of Visayan languages. The language contains many Spanish loanwords. It is also known as Ilonggo because many of the speakers originate in the province of Iloilo and has a total of 11 million speakers making it the 3rd most spoken native language in the Philippines and the 2nd most-spoken Visayan language after Cebuano.
