Valentina Leskaj has been a member of the Assembly of the Republic of Albania for the Socialist Party from 1997 until 2017, when she decided that she would resign and leave politics.[1] From 2013 until 2017 she served as vice chairperson of the Parliament and on 24 July 2017, she took the office as acting head of the parliament,[citation needed] after Ilir Meta was elected President of the Republic.

Previously she has served as Minister of Labor and Social Affairs in the Nano Government from 2002 until 2004.[2]

On 26 January 2015 she was elected by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe as Vice-President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.[3]

Leskaj was born on 1 November 1948.
